Founded in 1880 as St. Mark's, they became Ardwick Association Football Club in 1887 before settling on their current name. Their most successful period to date was in the late 1960s and early 1970s during which time they won the League Championship, FA Cup, League Cup and the European Cup Winners Cup. The success of that period is the current aim of late after significant investment from wealthy new owners.
